Ogni volta che mi concedo un viaggio culturale vado in crisi su ciò che sarebbe giusto indossare e quindi portare in valigia. Purtroppo, no possiedo l’arte della “sintesi” e così mi ritrovo a trainare (o ad essere trainata) da maxi valigioni, pieni dell’improbabile, più che dell’indispensabile. Ormai, questa è la routine…se prima era vissuta dal mio ragazzo come un dramma epico, ora è diventata una comica. Se la valigia risulta troppo leggera, si cerca di riempirla ancor di più perché è “troppo vuota”. Vuota, anche se il viaggio dura solo due giorni. E anche se devo viaggiare per un paio di giorni o poco più, ciò che non mancherà mai saranno le scarpe.  Tacchi, stivali e, purtroppo (purtroppo perché io sono tacchi-dipendente), le famose Dr Martens, che mi accompagnano da una dozzina di anni e che sono intramontabili, indistruttibili e utili nei viaggi culturali immersi nella pioggia. Capite bene che, anche se ho un misero 36, le scarpe comunque occupano spazio, motivo per cui scelgo valigie di grandi dimensioni. Ma poi, alla fine, io mi giustifico sempre appellandomi alla mia bassezza: “non sono le valigie ad essere troppo grandi, ma sono io ad essere troppo bassa…” abbastanza credibile, non trovate?! Ragazzo mio, colpito ed affondato…il caso è chiuso.

Everytime that I decide on a cultural holiday I go into a total panic as to what would be the right thing to wear and hence what should go into my suitcase. Unfortunately, I don’t possess the art of “minimalism” and thus I find myself dragging a huge suitcase around, full of the inopportune more than the indispensable. This has been the routine for a while now…if this was once a tragic epic lived by by my boyfriend, it has now become somewhat of a comedy. If the suitcase turns out to be too light, I try to fill it up even more, so it’s not “too empty”. Empty even though the trip is only two days long. And even if I have to travel for just a few days, my shoes  will never be the missing factor. Heels, boots and unfortunately (because I’m heel-dependant) the well-known Dr Martens, which for a dozen of years now have been following my every trip, timeless, indestructable and useful for rainy cultural holidays. Please note well, that even though I’m only a size 36, shoes still take up room, and this is the reason why I choose huge cases. And in the end, I always justify myself with my height: “it’s not the cases that are too big, but it’s me who is too short…” quite credible don’t you think?! My dear friend, hit and sunk…case closed.
